Proudly based in the Pacific Northwest

Amy Figueira - Owner & Claims Specialist
With a hard-work ethic and resilient spirit, Amy enjoys the challenge of chasing after non-paid claims, investigating denials and following-up with insurance companies (sometimes weekly); all for that sense of accomplishment when the "claim paid" notification is sent her way. She thrives on connection and helping others to succeed. In her free time, she enjoys spending time outdoors, camping and hiking with her husband and 3 boys.
LaRie Blake - Billing Specialist
LaRie has over 8 years of experience working with insurance in the mental health field as an Intake Coordinator. She started as a Billing Assistant with Sound Therapy Billing in 2023 and by 2024 was promoted to Billing Specialist. Her organization skills and consistency help our billing team stay on top of payments and claim issues. If a claim is denied and should have been paid, LaRie is quick to contact the claims department sending it back for review. In her free time LaRie enjoys being near the water with her husband, son and two dogs.
Danni Umana - Billing Assistant
Danni graduated from Pierce College in 2024 and hit the ground running getting hands-on experience in medical billing and coding. He genuinely enjoys the puzzle-solving side of billing and loves collaborating with others to get things done right. Danni is thrilled to be part of the team at Sound Therapy Billing, where he can bring his energy, attention to detail, and passion for helping others into his daily work tasks. When he's not diving into resolving claims and calling insurances, you’ll probably find him out on the water fishing with his two boys or enjoying a good walk with his dog at a local park.

How We Started
What began as a simple favor in February 2017 has grown into a passion-driven mission to support mental health providers.
Amy Figueira first started handling billing for her husband's private practice, and what was initially meant to be temporary assistance quickly became something much more meaningful.
Amy discovered she had a natural talent for navigating the complex world of insurance billing and, more importantly, genuinely enjoyed the challenge. There was something deeply satisfying about chasing down non-paid claims, investigating denials, and persistently following up with insurance companies until that coveted "claim paid" notification arrived. Each resolved claim wasn't just a number—it represented a therapist who could focus on their patients instead of wrestling with insurance paperwork.
By February 2021, the demand for Amy's expertise had grown beyond her husband's practice. Mental health providers throughout the Puget Sound area were struggling with the same billing challenges that had once overwhelmed her husband's practice. They needed someone who understood both the technical aspects of medical billing and the unique needs of mental health practices.
That's when Sound Therapy Billing Services was officially born, with a clear mission: to provide comprehensive billing and claims services that allow mental health providers to focus more on their patients and less on the complex matters of insurance.
What started as one person helping one practice has evolved into a dedicated team of billing specialists, each bringing their own expertise and shared commitment to helping mental health practices thrive. We've maintained the personal touch that made Amy's original approach so effective—every client has direct access to our team, and we treat each practice's success as our own.
Today, we serve mental health providers nationwide, with particular expertise in the Pacific Northwest and surrounding states. Our growth has been driven not by aggressive marketing, but by the success of our clients and their referrals to colleagues who needed the same peace of mind and professional support.
From that first resolved claim in 2017 to the many practices we support today, our story continues to be written with each "claim paid" notification and every therapist who can spend more time with their patients because we're handling what we do best—making sure they get paid for the important work they do.
